Common misconception
That deep scrolling indicates the content was good. It indicates the content was consumed, which may mean it was engaging or that the visitor kept scrolling searching for something they had not yet found. Consumed is not the same as enjoyed. But at least it is genuinely consumed.

A pricing page shows a sharp scroll drop-off at approximately sixty percent. Analysis finds a large embedded comparison table at that point which renders poorly on mobile, causing visitors to abandon rather than scroll past it. Replacing it with a mobile-appropriate layout removes the cliff, and the material below it starts being reached.
The everyday version
Scroll depth is how far down the page people actually get. It is more trustworthy than how long they stayed, because someone who wandered off for a coffee does not scroll. If everyone stops two thirds of the way down, whatever you put below that is not being read.
