Abandonment rate is the share of customers who give up before their issue is handled. On a phone line it means hanging up in a queue. On a website it means closing the tab.

It is the clearest available signal of failure, and it is routinely miscounted in ways that flatter the system.

Where abandonment hides in automation reporting
